Rad Damage Assessor

Description

Flare radiation damage in the Port needs assessing. Ever used a Geiger counter before?

Start: Side Jobs, Cape Verde Stronghold

Introduction

Simeon has been notified. He's waiting for you in the Port.

New goals: "Visit Simeon Gonzalez in the Port for the Rad Damage Assessor job.".

You have accepted the "Rad Damage Assessor" job.

Next NPC: Simeon 'the wrench' Gonzalez, Port, Cape Verde Stronghold

  • Talk to Simeon.

You approach Simeon, receiving a friendly but greasy, machine-oil infused handshake in the process.

He says: Heck, I hope you had a good breakfast <name>, we got a lot of ground to cover. Last flare emission hit us full on. We're talking serious X-Rays, not the kind you get down in Sick Bay, ya follow?

You nod politely as Simeon thrusts a small hand-held device into your hand.

Simeon says: There's your Geiger counter, friend. Rad Assessor's job is tough but simple. Sweep the entire Port with this little thing, then bring the data back to me… Hopefully our rad shielding did its job and we ain't all gonna start growing second heads, haha!

Simeon gives you an encouraging thumbs up and then leaves you to it, still chuckling at his joke as he walks off.

New goals: Check the radiation levels in the Port, Local Shuttles, Docks, and Shipping Bay. Return to Simeon in the Port when you're done.

Port:

Your stamina holds as you tirelessly collect Geiger readings for every corridor, staircase, and wall panel in the Port. The dull click of the Geiger is steady: thankfully the radiation damage appears minimal here.

New goals: Complete your radiation checks in the Port and all sub-areas. Then return to Simeon for payment.

Docks:

The Docks are large but you proceed systematically, first going through the private vessel berths and then moving to the cargo import levels. You make sure to take readings for every corridor and bulkhead that is within 15 meters of the station's external hull. Some of the numbers look a little higher than usual. You message Simeon and he replies almost instantly.

SIMEON: Hmmm. Might need to do some hull repairs in that section. Looks like we got a tiny leak. Leave it with me.

You cross the Docks off your list.

New goals: Complete your radiation checks in the Port and all sub-areas. Then return to Simeon for payment.

Local Shuttles:

You set about covering all corners of the Local Shuttles area, collecting readings with your Geiger counter as you go. It looks like the station's external shielding did its job here; all values are within acceptable ranges. You tick off the Local Shuttles area from your 'to-do' list.

New goals: Complete your radiation checks in the Port and all sub-areas. Then return to Simeon for payment.

Shipping Bay:

Thankfully the Shipping Bay is small and you manage to cover it fairly quickly, slowly passing your scanner over various wall panels and corridor vents. Your counter's clicks remain slow and steady and you eventually cross another area off your list.

New goals: Complete your radiation checks in the Port and all sub-areas. Then return to Simeon for payment.

Next NPC: Simeon 'the wrench' Gonzalez, Port, Cape Verde Stronghold

  • Collect payment from Simeon.

You return to Simeon just as he's ripping some frayed wiring out from a broken door entry panel. He smiles pleasantly on seeing you.

Simeon says: Back already? You're a quick 'un, aintcha…

He takes the Geiger counter from your hand and scrolls through the various logs you've collected.

He says: Yep. Pretty much what I expected. Might need a minor hull repair here and there… Here's your dosh, mate. Come back anytime!

You have received 80.00 credits.

You have completed the "Rad Damage Assessor" job.
