Ruins

Description

The Ruins are a dangerous place, attracting scavengers and looters as well as organized Syndicates who use these areas for their buildings and for storage purposes. The Ruins are divided into three sub-areas: The Wrecks, Syndicate Buildings (which you’ll be able to visit soon), and The Wilds.

Subareas

Notes

  • Originally one area; subdivided on 2018-11-07, with most former content relocated to the Wrecks
  • Original description: "The Ruins are a dangerous place, attracting Wreck Runners and Ruins Rats alike who search for useful materials or try for some semblance of a life amidst the rubble. Do you want to hunt for treasures as well? Invest Focus and Stamina to search the area. You'll gain experience and with some luck you may find useful items, but there is also a risk of getting injured. Rummaging goods from the Ruins and selling them in the Market can be very profitable in the long run. You might even recover ancient weapons and armor from Before. These pieces of equipment are often rare and are sought after by the vendors of the Market who will surely buy them for you, though often only for a small portion of their actual value."
  • Description changed again on 2018-11-14; prior description: "The Ruins are a dangerous place, attracting Wreck Runners and Ruins Rats alike who search for useful materials. Want to hunt for treasures as well? Invest Focus and Stamina to search this area. You'll gain experience and may find items that you can either use or sell. You can trade with vendors and get a share of the item's value or offer goods to citizens on the Public Market. The Ruins are also a good place to look for trouble; fight against single NPCs for experience and items. On a few stations, you can even enter the sewer systems to start challenging campaigns. Face a group of hostile non-citizens, fight them one by one, grab loot for every victory, and get a special, final reward after you defeat the last enemy!

Additional information from the storyline

In The Red Zones at Tau Station, I've met Mikel configuring the Omni Reality Engine. I later used it as he was on guard (Ready Player Everyone).
