On October 8, 2023, the creators of Tau Station announced its imminent closure.
Part of the Journey is the End.
It’s time for goodbye.
We began this adventure many years ago full of dreams, full of ideas.
We wanted to create a universe. A place for people to socialize and create connections.We wanted to provide a new medium for stories. A new place for writers to express themselves and explore humanity’s infinite possibilities.
We wanted to make the beauty of words accessible to the new generation as much as to the older one.
We wanted this richness of words and stories to be given to everyone with no discrimination on gender, orientation, or even physical capacity.
We wanted to create a book that you could play and a game that you could read.
We dreamt so much and worked so hard to give life to Tau Station. We sacrificed everything for it, and we came so close to achieving our vision.
However, a few years ago we received a tax break for the development of Tau Station. We had to abide by a clear set of rules. It wasn’t always easy, but the rules were known… until they were not.
After more than 11 months of instruction, In February 2023, the CNC who oversees the respect of these rules decided to deny us the benefit of our tax break. For doing so it created a new very important rule: the final approval needs now to be obtained in a 36-month delay and not requested.
This changed in the application of the law by the CNC is heavy of consequences for Tau station, but also for the French Video game industry as a whole.We are fighting it and will keep fighting it.
2023 was supposed to be about the last clean up and the marketing launch of Tau Station. 2023 was eventually about excruciating pain, legal battle, lawyers fees….
Therefore, it’s time to say Goodbye and by the end of the month we will turn off the servers.
You have all been absolutely amazing. A true crew to sail amongst the stars with. We will miss you and always remember each and every one of you fondly.
It was an honor to share our dream with you and I hope you get to enjoy the small present that we have added to your inventories.
